JOB DESCRIPTION
This position will report to the Director of Project Management and will be responsible for the overall planning, directing, and coordinating project activities for Public Safety Software and/or Hardware Projects for TriTech Software Systems. The project manager is responsible for successful delivery of projects within time and budget and managing interactions between different departments, as well as clients and vendors. Project manager is responsible for creating and managing project documentation and records such as project charter, statement of work, status reports and budget documentation. The work done in this role will directly impact the productivity of the project team and customer satisfaction.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Direct responsibility for Project Management of projects in relation to clients, vendors, third party contractors, and internal resources.
- Interface with Engineering, Information Systems, Product Management, Business Analysis, and Sales to provide and receive input on support activities and priorities, and identifying risks.
- Create and execute project work plans and revise as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.
- Identifies and manages the project team within and external to the PMO organization.
- Effectively apply TriTech PMO methodology and enforce project standards.
- Create and maintain project management documentation, including the SOW, Charter, Project Plan(s) and periodic reports, and completion reports and ensure those documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately.
- Travels domestically and internationally as required to complete project deliverables. (Typically between 25-40%)
- Create and maintain the project budget and reports on any variances via variance report.
- Manage risk analysis and contingency planning, and minimize exposure to risk on project.
- Determine appropriate revenue recognition, ensure timely and accurate invoicing, and monitor receivables for project.
- Manages client issues with support from the system engineering team including any changes to requirements or scope of the Statement of Work {SOW}
- May manage more than one project simultaneously
- Obtains critical sign-off of major milestones with Task Completion Reports (TCR’s)
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
- Between 4-10 years experience as a project manager or program manager, preferably related to Software and/or Hardware, with strong project management skills.
- Skilled with project management methods and processes associated with complex hardware/software system implementation life cycles using project planning tools such as MS Project 2003.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage large and small projects consisting of indirect reports and external resources, and the ability to lead and work in a team environment with all levels of management.
- Strong written and oral communications skills.
- Proven track record in successful management of multiple projects.
- Strong multi-tasking skills.
- Expertise in EPM and Sharepoint a plus.
- Exposure to government contracts or public safety environment a plus.
EDUCATION
- Minimum of Bachelor's degree in engineering, business or related field
- PMP certification a plus
